FIFTY GAZELLES, Chicago, IL  2016

  • Leveraging 11 different external innovation business models to bring new products to market for CPG companies, faster and with less risk. 

JR SIMPLOT COMPANY, Boise, ID  2003 to 2016

  • Developed and successfull launched the first biotechnology improved produce brands in retail and foodservice - White Russet™ and Opal™ and the brand for Simplot's Innate™ technology for improving crops through biotechnology.

  • Launched sales efforts into the potato chip industry for the Innate™ Atlantic and Snowden varieties - gaining trial at 9 potato chip companies

  • Successfully launched Cravon™ Never Fried French Fries into test market in Southern California.  First innovation in frozen potatoes in 15 years.

  • Extensive consumer research across organic consumers, conventional crops,genetically modified produce and their products.

  • Grew Simplot's custom manufacturing relationships with General Mills, Schwan's, Sara Lee, Heinz, Nestle, and Belissio Foods from $30M to $60M in sales annually.

LANEY CONSULTING, Boise, ID  2001 to 2003

  • Marketing and business development consultant with clients from start-ups to Fortune 500.

SYNGENTA INC., Boise, ID  1999 to 2001

  • Led effort to bring premium produce to the marketplace in a 4-company joint venture.  Developed branded produce icon, brand positioning platform and branded retail produce section.

H. J. HEINZ COMPANY, Boise, ID  1987 to 1999

  • Developed strategic road map for North American frozen food division, negotiated acquisitions, divestitures and joint ventures ranging from $2.5M to $125M.

  • Grew branded frozen specialty food business from $40M to $160M in 5 years.  Built Bagel Bites™ into a $100M brand for Heinz.

  • Reinvigorated the new product development process and introduced 62 new items for retail and foodservice divisions over a 2 year period, contributing $100M+ in sales annually.

  • Managed marketing budgets ranging from $5M to $40M, creating annual marketing plans, directing the development of award winning television, print and radio ads, sales support materials.
